Types of Streams under the TSS Visa Australia

There are various additional streams that make up the visa. Every stream has some fundamental and particular requirements. Applicants must fulfill the requirements listed in the intended stream for which they are applying.

Short Term Stream

As the name suggests, the stream only allows a two-year stay in Australia. However, if you have applied for an International Trade Obligation (ITO), you may stay for up to 4 years under this stream, or for 5 years if you hold a Hong Kong passport. If your profession appears on the list of short-term skilled occupations, you can be eligible for this stream. The processing times can vary. It takes three months to process 90% of applications. The processing period for 25% of applications may complete as fast as within 9 days.

Middle Term Stream

The visa allows employers to address labor shortage by brining overseas workers in Australia. It is more popular than the Short-Term Stream because of longer validity. You can stay up to 4 years in Australia. If you are a passport holder of Hong Kong, the visa is valid for 5 years. Ensure that your occupation is on either the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Regional Occupation List.

Labor Agreement Stream

As the name suggests, employers holding a labor agreement from the Australian Government can nominate eligible overseas workers. The labor agreement is valid for up to 5 years. Employers can renew the labor agreement for the next five years. This visa allows you to stay in Australia for up to 4 years. The stay duration depends on the terms of the labor agreement. For Hong Kong passport holders, the visa is valid for up to 5 years. The processing times may vary. For a few cases, it takes up to 17 days, and the rest cases can settle within 24 days, 79 days, or a maximum of 5 months.

Basic Eligibility Criteria

For each stream under the 482 Visa, there are some basic eligibility criteria to meet.

It is a nomination visa to Australia. For this, you cannot apply directly. You must have a nomination by your employer in Australia. In other words, an Australian employer will nominate you for this visa. 

 

There is no age limit to apply for this visa.

You can apply in and outside Australia. If you apply for this visa inside Australia, you must hold a substantive visa or a Bridging Visa, A, B, or C. Ensure that you have complied with previous visa applications.

Your skills and qualifications must be related to the visa for which you are applying. You must have at least 2 years of work experience as a full-time worker in the relevant field for which you have applied.

It is a must to hold a positive skills assessment that shows you have the skills for the nominated job profile.

You will work for your nominated occupation and for the employer who has sponsored you.

English proficiency is essential if you are not a passport holder of the USA, the UK, Canada, and the Republic of Ireland.

You must have coverage of health insurance that can give cover health expenses in Australia.

Provide your health and character certificates with the visa application.

Ensure that you have no history of visa cancellation and have no debt to the Australia Government. If you have a loan to clear with the Australia Government, you must clear it before applying for this visa.
