What are the Basic Requirements for Temporary Activity Visas Sydney, Australia?

Australia is one of the finest overseas destinations to get occupational training. Be it health, engineering, hospitality, and a range of fields, Australia could be one of the best places to enhance skills in the field of your choice. Luckily, the country offers two types of temporary training visas Sydney for any legal occupations in the country.

Training Visa (Subclass 407)

It is a temporary workplace-based occupational training visa to improve the current skills for your job, particular course, field of expertise, or a professional development training program. The length of stay is up to 2 years. The processing times can take 8 months for 25% of cases and can stretch up to 27 months for 90% of cases.

Temporary Activity Visa (Subclass 408)

With a TemporaryActivity Visa, you can participate in a specific short stay activity. The validity period depends on the type of activity visa you have applied for. For instance, the Australian Government Endorsed Events allows you to stay in Australia for up to 4 years. Similarly, the processing times can vary. For instance, a Special Program like youth exchange and cultural enrichment can take a maximum of 75 days for approval. On the contrary, the Australian Government Endorsed Events may take up to 15 months for approval.

Basic Requirements for These Temporary Activity Visas

These two visas aim at enhancing skills in specific fields. They are temporary visas to Australia. Below are the basic requirements to meet for all these visas.

Have an Approved Sponsor

Most activities or streams coming under the Temporary Activity Visa need a sponsor for specific conditions. For instance, the Special Program stream needs a sponsor if you apply while living in Australia or apply from outside with an intention to stay more than 3 months.

Under the Training Visa 407 your sponsor must be approved as a temporary activities sponsor. Such a sponsor sponsorship lasts 5 years from the date it is granted. If sponsors want to continue their sponsorship, they need to apply before the current sponsorship expires.

The Right Age

One of the most common eligibility criteria is your age. Some streams under the Temporary Activity Visa require specific age. For instance, your age must not be less than 17 years while applying for the Special Program Stream.

Similarly, the Training Visa 407 requires you to be 18 or more than when the Department decides your visa application.

Must Meet Health Requirements

Australia ensures that every visa entry takes place after health examinations. Requirements for health examinations may vary, depending on the type of your visa. You may be required to submit the recent chest x-ray report. If your country has low risk of tuberculosis, you are most likely to be eligible to apply for any of these training visas in Australia.

Have Adequate Health Insurance

These are temporary visas to Australia. Therefore, you are financially liable to bear your health expenses in the country. Overseas Visitor Health Cover (OVHC) products can provide an appropriate level of private health insurance coverage. In other words, look for a higher level of cover for treatment at public and private healthcare centres in Australia. As evidence, the Department might ask you to provide a copy of a current private health insurance policy granted by an Australian registered private health insurer.

Meet Character Requirements

It is a basic requirement where you and your family members traveling with you must pass the character requirements. You may not be eligible to apply for the visa if you engage in criminal conduct, stalk another person, and seem dangerous to the Australian community. The Department may ask you to provide a police certificate, a letter of good conduct from your current employer, etc. They ask you to complete Form 80 Personal Particulars for Character Assessment and a Character Statutory Declaration.

Be a Genuine Temporary Entrant

The Genuine Temporary Entrant or GTE ensures the Department of Home Affairs Australia that you use these temporary visas correctly. You cannot use your training visa to buy property in Australia. You must satisfy the authority that you have genuine intention to stay in the country temporarily.

No Debt & Visa Cancellation History

The Department of Home Affairs may deny your visa request if you have debt to the Australian government. Therefore, if you have taken any loan in Australia, clear it before applying for a training visa. Similarly, your visa cancellation history can affect your eligibility. Ensure you have no visa cancellation or rejection while you were in Australia.

These are the basic eligibility to meet no matter whether you apply for the Training Visa 407 or a Temporary Activity Visa 408.
